The Music Ring
The Music Ring is the sound of the Medieval Fair — drum, hurdy-gurdy and bagpipe across the afternoon, learn-to-dance sessions on the main stage, and a drumming circle to close the day at dusk. It plays out all day in Benoni on Saturday 8 August 2026.
The main stage keeps a rhythm to the day. Q the Music opens it at 11:00 and returns at 15:30; in between, you can learn medieval dancing at 13:00 — no partner or skill required, just a willingness to be shown the steps.
Around the stage, the Music Ring carries live sets on period instruments — drum, hurdy-gurdy, bagpipe — three across the afternoon. As the light goes, the drumming circle gathers and anyone can join; it is the warmest way the fair says goodnight.
If you only catch one stage moment, make it the 13:00 dance lesson with the children, or the dusk drums. Both are the kind of thing people film and send to a friend.
Who it's for: Music lovers, dancers, and families who want one unforgettable, joinable moment.
